doodling one’s self-validation

Because this story refers to events that took place in a therapy group, I asked permission from the woman involved before publishing it.

I watched a woman in a therapy group I’m participating in doodle for about 1.5 hours. The biggest thing I noticed was that she illustrated and decorated her name twice. And she told a story of recent, brutal heartbreak and career indirection.

I caught up with her after the session and mentioned my observation that she decorated her name twice. Stated that she was essentially validating herself. That she was asserting herself. I explained that celebrating one’s name does this, and that I knew this firsthand from having selected and changed my own name. (See my post “choose your name, choose your destiny”).

Names are important!
